Deco Homes - Five Creative Surfaces

5 CREATIVE SURFACES

1. MARBLE Tile has the unique ability to produce a sense of unity in any given space, effortlessly relating colours, shades, and textures to each other in a harmonious fashion. Though traditionally square in structure, tiles with distinctive shapes can create dimension and add character to an otherwise simple backsplash. Alternatively, vertical brick can be utilized to accentuate height in certain spaces while mosaics and herringbone tile can evoke thoughts and reflections of luxury and sophistication. Regardless of the assortment of choices offered, tile undoubtedly has the capacity to leave an impression.

2. STAINLESS STEEL Due to its incomparable durability, strength, and sheen, stainless steel has become an indispensable and fundamental material finish not only in the kitchen, but also in additional spaces throughout the home. The impeccable, sleek finish contributes to a sense of luxury and lends itself effectively to clean and simple design. Shelves and tables as well as frames and accessories can take advantage of the enduring, yet tasteful quality of stainless steel.

3. BARN BOARD Reclaimed wood and barn board come with a sense of grit, character, and history that is unmatchable with alternative materials. Wood has the capability to be re-worked with virtually no limitations, lending itself productively to nearly any application. As a building material, it can be put to work to create unique pieces and finishes with rustic and antique senses emanating from its use. Barn board has essentially infinite potential, limited only by the imagination of those designing the space.

4. GLASS The transparency and rigidity of glass make it a material often reserved for spaces demanding the ultimate in sophistication and class. Glass is routinely put to use in the design of corporate space. By shattering the taboo, glass can be used to inject designs with strength and sophistication while often creating fantastic illusions of light and open space. Alternatively, take advantage of transparency and experiment with unique stained glass or antique mirrors to brighten spaces and add colour.

5. WALLPAPER Often underrated and overlooked in the design process, wallpaper is a tool that when used correctly, can yield impressive and inspirational results. Though often imagined as a decorating instrument of the distant past, original and effective use of wallpaper can serve an essential purpose in the overall design aesthetic of a space. Recent trends have highlighted the use of wallpaper as an accent on a single surface in a room, or in more unconventional places such as bookshelves, doors, furniture, or stairs.
